Spend the day in historic Apalachicola with Quincy’s own Artist Beth Allman. River’s Edge Art Gallery is hosting this event from 10-3pm giving you time to explore shops downtown and get a bite to eat.
The “Coat of Many colors” is designed based on a traditional Appalachian ribbed-style working basket. Instructor is Beth Allman.
The basket style that students will be taught features a natural vine rim. Techniques will include cutting and inserting ribs, learning basic weaving strokes, overlapping reed and filling in spaces.
The finished basket measures 10” – 12” across, 3”-4” tall.
The class is suitable for all skill levels.
$85 per student – The basket vine rim and all reeds are included
Tools Needed: small bucket, old towel, scissors, sharp clippers
Students are advised to bring something to drink, a salad & soup lunch will be provided.
