If you’re looking for a fantastic day trip destination from Quincy, FL, look no further than the charming coastal town of Port St. Joe. With its historic downtown, beautiful beaches, and an array of delightful shops and eateries, Port St. Joe offers a perfect mix of relaxation and exploration just a short drive away.

Our adventure started in the heart of Port St. Joe’s historic downtown. First stop: Jill’s Fine Art Gallery. This lovely gallery features stunning works by local artist Jill Seiler, who captures the essence of Florida’s wildlife and landscapes in her paintings. I couldn’t resist picking up a print of a shrimp boat—it’s a beautiful reminder of our trip and adds a touch of coastal charm to our home.

Next, we wandered into Shirley Southern Boutique. This beach town gem has a curated selection of items perfect for both locals and tourists. I found a gorgeous kimono-style bathing suit cover-up that’s sure to be a summer staple. And for my furry friend, there were plenty of adorable accessories. Our shopping spree continued at Coastal Cabin Marketplace, where I discovered a stylish sun hat with UV protection, woven with a blend of polyester and paper. Their selection of jewelry, gifts, and gourmet items is wonderfully curated and worth exploring.

We also found a fun gift at Go Fish and couldn’t resist peeking inside the historic Port Theater, which is currently being renovated. It’s exciting to see how this classic venue is being brought back to life.

For lunch, we headed to Jo Mamma’s Wood Fired Pizza. Sitting on their patio, we enjoyed a slice while gazing at the picturesque Port St. Joe Lighthouse. Their bespoke pizza topping combinations are a must-try—every bite was delicious.

After filling up, we made our way to the beach. The white sand was pristine, and the beach was pleasantly less crowded than others in the area. We strolled along the shore, passing swimmers and fishermen catching whiting fish. It was a perfect, relaxing afternoon.

Before heading home, we swung by Sweet Bunz for a sweet treat. Their ice cream was the perfect way to end our day in Port St. Joe.

A bit of history for those who remember the old paper mill—it’s long gone, and the town has beautifully transformed into a vibrant tourist destination. With plenty of restaurants, shops, and vacation rentals, Port St. Joe is now a beacon of coastal charm. Its proximity to Quincy makes it an ideal spot for a day-long excursion. Whether you’re shopping, dining, or simply soaking up the sun on the beach, there’s something for everyone.

Fun Fact: Port St. Joe is home to St. Joseph Peninsula State Park, which was named America’s Best Beach by Dr. Beach in 2002. This park offers incredible wildlife viewing, fishing, and some of the most beautiful, unspoiled beaches in Florida.

So, if you haven’t visited Port St. Joe lately, pack up the family and head out for a day of discovery and fun. You won’t be disappointed!
